::Oscar Picks::

Anne-Hathaway-Oscar-dress4_183

{My FAVE look on Anne Hathaway, one of the hosts of the Oscars. The dress is by Atelier Versace.}

Sorry for the hiatus...like I said below, things have been cRaZy at work, with no end in sight. I won't be able to post as regularly as I had been before for at least another month.

With that said, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to add my two cents to the fashion choices for the Oscars last night.
Here are my favorite ensembles:

I noticed that a lot of the actresses kept their tones muted, with lots of neutrals...only a brave few dared to dazzle the audience with a splash of bright color. There were a LOT of amethyst tones this year...one of my favorite colors to wear:

Natalie Portman looked wonderful in her gown by Rodarte. I was glad to see her take home the Oscar for Best Actress.

1AEDBFFD

Scarlett Johansson's Dolce and Gabbana gown definitely caught my eye, but I was a little taken aback by her messy hair. I think her overall look would have been more polished if her hair weren't so edgy.

1AEDB044

Hailee Steinfeld looked like a proper young lady in Marchesa. I'm looking forward to seeing her in more films.

1AEDBCFD

Halle Berry is again giving all the ladies a run for their money in Marchesa. She looks beautiful, as usual.

1AEDBD00

Gwyneth Paltrow rocks Calvin Klein, her go-to designer. She looks wonderful in minimalist outfits.

Honorable mentions:

JenniferHudsonOscars2011

Jennifer Hudson looks great, and I loved that she wore purple heels with her tangerine Atelier Versace gown, but I didn't think the cut of the gown was very flattering for her cleavage. It looked a little odd to me...what do you think?

Although Cate is one of my fashion icons and usually doesn't disappoint when it comes to her fashion choices, I was a little on the fence about this gown by Givenchy Couture. I loved the color and the beadwork, but I was not crazy about the bodice at all. Thoughts?

::Yeeaaaahhh, Sooo::

The proverbial shit has hit the fan at work, so I'm gonna take a little break from blogging until things calm down.

Sorry, dudes.

::Cheers 4 The Freakin' Weekend::

Friday:

It snowed Thursday night, and since people in Texas don't know how to drive in the snow, work was canceled! The three-day-weekend was MUCH appreciated, and I took Sophie out to enjoy the snow before it melted. She hasn't had much experience with snow, so it was pretty funny to watch her go around investigating.

For dinner, Kris and I went to Moonshine (after all the snow melted). I was so hungry, I forgot to take pictures of the food, but it was really yummy! I like how they bring out popcorn instead of bread or chips and salsa.

S- hosted a "Chick Flick" movie marathon (AKA...Estrogen Fest!) at her place, complete with snacks, chocolate, wine, and plenty of Kleenex. A- decided to do her nails with the new Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail strips. Super cute!

Chick Flick selection criteria = must make you cry! Here's what we watched:

bees
The Secret Life of Bees- Cried.

the-joy-luck-club-movie
The Joy Luck Club-Cried.

Indira Varma 2
*My pick*
Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love
{Seen this movie too many times to cry. The girls were mad about the end though. It's a really good movie, I highly recommend it!}

And to lighten the mood...
burnbook
Mean Girls- Cried....laughing!

Sunday:

Went to church, had a great lunch at Chuy's, and went out to a friend's house to watch the Super Bowl (REALLY pissed about the Steelers losing, btw...). I learned how to make salsa!

::Brrrrr!::

As temperatures dip more and more in Texas, I keep thinking about sliding on over to Barney's to indulge my latest obsession:

Man, this would look soooo good with some weathered Frye boots and leggings. Not to mention, I'd be toasty warm! Until then, I'll be bundled up under the covers with a cup of Russian tea with a book!
