::Little Blue Box::

What piece of jewelry do you wear everyday? Besides my wedding ring, I always wear this Elsa Peretti Open Heart pendant by Tiffany and Co., a gift from my parents a few years back. But that's not really the point of this post...

...I was polishing my nails with the bottle of Mischievous Mint (MAC) I recently acquired, and thought "This color blue reminds me of something...what is it?" It took me all of 10 seconds to figure it out...it's the same color as the little blue box that every girl wants.

Excuse the crap polish job. I don't have steady hands.

...Now if I could only get the matching earrings...*ahem*

::SXSW Day 1::

En route
Headed out for Day 1 of SXSW Interactive.
Top: Rodarte for Target / Hat: Urban Outfitters / Sunglasses: Dior
Face: MAC Golden Lariat Mineralizer (my new favorite!) from the Wonder Woman collection; MAC Oyster Girl Lipglass

That time of year has arrived...when people from all over the world descend upon Austin, TX for a festival celebrating all sorts of media! South by Southwest has been a spring break tradition for me, and this year got pretty exciting! Day 1 consisted of:

Hanging out with fellow bloggers at Bakespace.com's Techmunch Conference, which was a lot of fun!
Plus, Whole Foods sent us home with a little gift:

Havin' a grand ole time!

IMG_0135
How cute is this?! I totally want to steal it and hang it in my bathroom!

IMG_0137
Kris was having a great time as well...it was hard getting him out of the door!

Chanel, the canine mistress of the house, was pooped.

After dragging ourselves away from the fun at Lames's house, we headed downtown for a networking event hosted by DigitalLA.
But the highlight of my night was this:

Ohhhh yes. They couldn't have picked a better name for this food cart.
I rarely get a chance to get a late night snack from Best Wurst, but I seriously love their Italian Sausage. *DrOoL*

Soooo effing good. If you're ever in Austin, you can catch them on 6th Street at night. Best post-drinking food ever!

I'll be posting more pictures of my days and nights at SXSW soon! Stay tuned! :)

::A Very Important Luncheon::

IMG_0066

Today, I went to a Very Important Luncheon....I can't say why it's important, but hopefully I will have some good news to share in the coming months! Once again, my experimentation with make-up had better than expected results. Here's what I was wearing:

Make-Up

Eyes: MAC Trax Eyeshadow {lid} and MAC Carbon Eyeshadow {corner & crease}. MAC Sorcery Shadebender {brow highlighter}. MAC Ebony Eye Pencil and Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara in Black.

Cheeks: Clinique Rich Coral blush {apples of cheeks} and Clinique Matte Bronze {hollows of cheeks}

Lips: MAC Lipglass in Pop Mode

I got lots of compliments on my ensemble! Here's what I was wearing:

Dress: Michael Kors {thrifted!}

Wrap Sweater: Lilla P. (thrifted!}

Belt: Steven by Steve Madden

Clutch: Forever 21

Shoes: gifted {from my mom}

The Very Important Luncheon led to the first of a series of Very Important Meetings. Having a unique but flattering outfit helped to score that meeting, and I'm glad I took the risk! I initially thought that the sweater & belt combo might be a tad much, but I stuck with my guns. This experience has definitely encouraged me to push my fashion boundaries and combine things I normally would not. Here's to risky fashion choices that pay in the end!

XOXO!

::Gettin' Crafty::

IMG_0002

Last night, A- had her "Boughetto" Birthday Bash...so that means I had to get creative to come up with a costume! I already had those outrageous Marc Jacobs pants, but I went out thrifting to find tops to go with it. What are those scissors doing there? Stay tuned to find out!

IMG_0019

{Side-Note...it's time to do a Pizza Face post!}

Make-Up:

Eyeshadow: MAC Pigments - Violet [outer half of lid] & Pink Bronze [inner half of lid], MAC Parfait Amour eyeshadow [outer half of lid] MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in My Dark Magic [on corner of lid] and MAC White Frost eyeshadow [brow highlighter]

Eyeliner: MAC Eye Kohl in Smoulder

Mascara: Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara in Black

Cheeks: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Metal Rock [in hollows of cheek] and MAC Creme Blush in Pleasureful [on cheekbones]

Lips: MAC Lipstick in Savory & Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Apricot Glaze.

I usually don't wear that much make-up anymore, but it turned out nicer than I expected {...I didn't look like a drag queen...}. I should probably start experimenting again!

Pictures from the party coming soon!

::Night Out - What I Wore::

IMG_1129

On Saturday night, Kris and I went to J-'s birthday party. He and R- had turned their house into a nightclub, complete with motion-detecting strobelights and DJ Lames on the digital 1's and 2's!

 IMG_1140

What I Wore:

Jacket: James Perse
Jeans: my trusty old Paper Denim + Cloth
Shoes: Yellow Box (old faves)
Hat: Urban Outfitters
Earrings: A gift from Dev! They're lillies, my favorite flowers.

Make-Up:

EyeShadow: MAC Texture & Motif
EyeLiner: MAC Teddy Eye Kohl
Mascara: Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara
Bronzer: MAC Metal Rock Mineralize Skinfinish
Lips: Clinique Bamboo Pink Long Last Glosswear
(...if you couldn't tell, I'm a hardcore MAC & Clinique fan)

I didn't take a picture of it, but in addition to my wedding ring, I also wore my grandmother's first wedding ring...from 1943! She and my grandfather were married during his furlough from WWII, and then he was sent back to Europe. It's a beautiful Art Deco-ish ring, and it means a lot to me.

Here's Kris...looking cute.

I'll post pictures from the party tomorrow!
